THE SCRIPT IS EXHAUSTING.
DROP THE ACT.
Casey Vogler, LCSW.
Licensed in NYC & Florida.
Direct feedback, trauma expertise, and zero "therapist voice."
Radical Honesty
You don't need a therapist who just nods and asks, "How does that make you feel?" You need a partner who isn't afraid to interrupt the story when you're getting in your own way. My style is warm, witty, and direct—like a very good friend who loves you enough to call you out when your perfectionism is running the show.
The Territory
You aren't looking for a textbook; you're looking for someone who has navigated the terrain. Before opening my practice, I spent 5 years on the medical front lines at Mount Sinai Hospital. As a child of trauma and an openly gay man, I don't just understand clinical theory—I speak your language. We use humor here not to deflect, but to survive and heal.
"Are you going to just sit there and listen?"
Absolutely not. I am an active therapist. While I listen deeply, I also challenge, reframe, and give direct feedback. If you are looking for someone to just witness your pain, I might not be the best fit. If you are looking for someone to help you change your life, we will get along great.
"Is it okay to laugh in therapy?"
It is mandatory. Trauma is heavy; the healing doesn't have to be. I use humor as a tool to break the tension and help us look at difficult truths without falling apart. We will do deep work, but we will also laugh—often in the exact same session.
"Why do you share about yourself?"
Because the "blank slate" creates distance, and distance kills trust. As an openly gay therapist, I use strategic self-disclosure as affirming and normalizing. You don't have to explain hookup culture, coding, or the nuances of family rejection to me. We skip the 101 and go straight to the real work.
