NOT A BLANK SLATE.
A REAL HUMAN.

Direct feedback, trauma expertise, and zero "therapist voice."
Radical Honesty
You don't need a therapist who just nods and asks, "How does that make you feel?" You need a partner who isn't afraid to interrupt the story when you're getting in your own way. My style is warm, witty, and direct—like a very good friend who loves you enough to call you out.
The Credentials
Before private practice, I worked the front lines as a Medical Social Worker on Mount Sinai’s Neuro-Spine and GI units. I am a "child of trauma" myself and an openly gay man. I don't just know the clinical theory; I know the territory. I use humor not to deflect, but to heal.
"Are you going to just sit there and listen?"
Absolutely not. I am an active therapist. While I listen deeply, I also challenge, reframe, and give direct feedback. If you are looking for someone to just witness your pain, I might not be the best fit. If you are looking for someone to help you change it, we will get along great.
"Is it okay to laugh in therapy?"
It is mandatory. Trauma is heavy; the healing doesn't have to be. I use humor as a tool to break tension and help us look at difficult truths without falling apart. We will do deep work, but we will also laugh—often in the same session.
"Why do you share about yourself?"
Because the "blank slate" creates distance, and distance kills trust. As an openly gay therapist and trauma survivor, I use strategic self-disclosure to normalize your experience. You don't have to explain "Gay 101" or the nuances of family dysfunction to me—I speak the language.
